Lake Effect
Music from Ireland, Scotland, and Québec on fiddle, flute, and guitar
Lake Effect is a band from the Land of 10,000 Lakes with an eclectic repertoire of traditional music from Ireland, Scotland, and French Canada. The trio includes Kathleen Green (fiddle), Amy Shaw (flute), and Chris Bashor (guitar), who met on the Twin Cities Irish session scene. Chris had the good fortune to study guitar with Dáithí Sproule. Kathleen has had a fiddle under her chin since the age of ten. She and Amy were members of O’Rourke’s Feast, an ensemble led by Paddy O’Brien. A folklorist at heart, Amy enjoys trawling a variety of musical traditions for the next Good Tune. Lake Effect has many ports of call, but always returns to Ireland.

Music from Celtic and Nordic traditions from around the North Atlantic
Kittiwake is the duo of Amy Shaw (wooden flute) and Chris Bashor (guitar). We play a variety of traditional and newly-composed music from the Nordic and Celtic countries. We also enjoy reviving music from Minnesota’s immigrant communities, such as the tunes of Norwegian fiddler Ole Hendricks.
